Decypha

City Orlando
Country United States of America
Rapper, Decypha, born James Andrew Percoco has been writing since the age of 8. An unlikely story stands behind the man known as "Decypha". From the westside of Orlando to a leader in the movement of urban reform, a rocky road provides a window into the grace he experienced through out his life, with every situation molding him into the artist and leader that he is today. Growing up without a mother and raised by his grandmother in a community on the westside of Orlando, Decypha moved around to several places giving him the versatile background and cultural awareness he carries with him. Having been associated to the gang life and growing up without a father, he took to rapping as a way of communicating his mind. It wasn't until after high school that his hobby became a passion after his hip hop background was redeemed by Jesus Christ. At 16 years old, he didn't realize that God was about to pay him a visit. One night at the end of 2006, laying in his bed, his world was turned upside down as the Holy Spirit convicted him of his sin and the fear of the Lord came upon him and he realized his need for a Savior. That day Decypha was rescued by the Lord and began following after Christ. The next year included many struggles and victories before he teamed up with a hip-hop group at his youth group called "5 Fold". He then released his first mixtape called, "The Cries Of My Heart" on April of 2010 at the age of 20. Calling Orlando home, Decypha remained content using his gifts of speaking and rapping. He currently resides in Orlando, Florida. He goes to a church called OHOP or the Orlando House Of Prayer, and attends a youth service there called Remnant. He is faithful to the committments he makes to to his church family. He attends a weekly Bible study with some of his friends and his youth pastor, George Sotolongo. Decypha quotes, "PG's been an amazing spiritual father to me and has helped me grow tremendously, I'll never forget his quote, 'If your faith hasn't changed you, then your faith hasn't saved you.'" Decypha continues, "I want to bring more than hip hop when I'm on stage I want the Living Word to come alive to those that have an ear to hear." He is going to continue on this journey as a prophetic minister of the Gospel through hip hop that the Lord has put him on and bring a nation back to God.
