I am a recently converted secular rapper...

I've been in the rap game for over 15 years, both in Houston and Dallas...I was on top of my game, this past year I've been in such publications as Ozone and Murder Dog magazines. I was also in a group, that last year won Battle of the Bands in the Quick newspaper. (a Dallas based newspaper with a circulation of over 90,000 readers) I turned away from all of this, about 6 months ago, gave up rap COMPLETLY...listening to it or performing it...I just let it all go....and focused TOTALLY on God...I got in the Word and emersed my life in Him...then I got turned on to Holy Hip Hop acts like Flame, Lecrae, Trip Lee etc...and I decided that God put it on my heart to put out a Holy Hip Hop magazine...to help reach lost souls...I believe my entire career in the secular music industry was preparing me for the mission that God wanted me to be a part of....the magazine is called Tha Message...and I am also eventually going to be performing Holy Hip Hop (if I ever perform again) but it's baby steps for me, being a new Christian, and when He tells me that I need to make music for Him...then I will....but not before it....Peace...in Him - PayDay

Are you not to judge those inside? Romans 5:12

He has claimed he is a Christ follower. Then we have the command to judge him...He got arrested for drugs again? His life clearly shows he is not a follower of Christ. Judge his fruit. If he claims Christ he is saying to the church and the world check me out...my life should reflect Jesus...

He is not producing fruit of the Kingdom variety...He needs to get saved. We as a Church, as Christ's body should NOT support him in any way other than correcting him, loving him and witnessing to him. - Special Agent Jones

DMX's album "Walk With Me Now and You'll Fly With Me Later" will be a dual-CD project which will be released in late 2008. Only one of the two CDs will be 'gospel.' The other CD is expected to recieve a Parental Advisory label, with a confirmed track called "Split That S***." To me, it seems difficult to spread God's word through rap music if you contradict your message on a second CD that shares the same title. - ex-sec-listener

DMX?!!!! If you're coming over, stay on God's side for good!!! No flip floppers!!!!

Please tell these secular producers and rappers to first get saved, join a church, get on the frontline for Jesus, THEN...you can do your Christian rap thing....we don't need secular rappers and secular producers in the Christian rap ministry....All you do is harm the credibility of the Christian rap ministry...I'm sorry, but all of a sudden, secular rap and hip-hop can't make money anymore, NOW it's time to come over to the other (God's)side? Gimme a break...yeah I said it!!!! Just call me a Pentacostal legalist, I guess...

Don't get me wrong...I believe in forgiveness and grace, but who's next? DMX? Rockwilder? Timbaland? Nas? Jay-Z? 50-cent? Common?Public Enemy? Lil' Kim? Sounds like a twisted agenda (money thing) to me.

Slow down guys...God is the standard here..

You have K-Drama, Theory Hazit, Knine, CMR, FLAME, 116 clique...Lampmode and many other Christian rap artist out there in urban battlefields spreading the Gospel, putting their lives on the line for the sake of the Gospel...Now DMX wants to enter? Puhlease!!!

It's a money thing people!!! Don't get sucked in by the celebrity...

God help us all...I hope Christian rap doesn't sell out like this...sigh. - Crusader918

I wonder if we'll see this stocked at Family and Mardels? My guess is it will end up in the rap shevles at best buy near Mase and R. Kelly's CDs LOL ;)...hhmmm....I read his interview with The Source talking about the ablum and he was cussing up a storm in it? Like the other guys said...test the spirits! Im all for mixing it in with sinners and tax collectors...if Jesus was here...I doubt he be sitting in the deacon's golden chair up on stage listening to everyone see about him...he'd be on the block doing what he always did....helping, healing, and teaching....yaddamean? Im sure BET will love it though....they always play Xian music after every x-rated rap video! But then again...its not TBN or Daystar... - Gizzle

DMX believes that he is a minister of God. He preaches vulgar messages laced with satanic undertones. He has recorded with the antichrist worshipping shock rocker Marilyn Manson. He prays on every album, after he has rapped some of the most vulgar lyrics known to the industry. He is covered in blood on his album cover. He claims to be the "Dark Man X" and he is very dark. He is very popular among gang members, murderers, and teens that commit violent acts. What else can I say? This guy is out there. But he gave some money to a church to keep it from closing, so he believes God has a mission for him. The money that he gave to that church is blood money. How many youth were lead astray, deceived, demon possessed, and locked up under the influence of his music? Is that what God had to do to raise the money to save a church? God forbid! Many pastors and preachers have used DMX's phrases in their sermons. "Ya'll gonna make me lose my mind, up in here, up in here" has been preached to so many from the pulpit. But has anyone heard the rest of that song? HELLO......He is talking about prison and even mentions using his "private part" to beat on an inmate! But who get's the glory when a preacher uses stuff that was influenced by demonic forces and violence? You tell me!!!

Sorry You're Wrong; We Are Suppose To Judge!

I think that a big problem with us as Christians is that we mistake being passive and complacent for being Godly. We are ordered to test the spirits,

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1John 4:1

You can only know what is on a man's heart from his actions not from what he says. Think about it, the devil will come as an angel of light. Now I'm not calling DMX a devil but I am saying that deceiving spirits are always warring for our hearts and minds. We all have been a victim of them at some point and sometimes they look just like the real thing but are sent from the enemy to deceive. Check out this verse…

Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." She kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her. Acts 16:16-18

Don't be foolish. Christians are also supposed to judge each other in fact we are commanded to,

Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 1 Corinthians 6:2-3

We are not to judge the heart or motives, only God can do that, but we are to judge actions. For example: If your pastor is caught sleeping with the deacons wife, you better throw him out on his bottom before the sun goes down and if you don't, the Word of God says that you are just as guilty because this could lead to weaker Christians and non-believers going astray who may look at that situation and think because the pastor did it and the congregation tolerated it, it's okay if I do it to. We have to be wise in our acceptance.

I've heard about this album months ago from DMX in an interview and from what I understand the album was originally suppose to be a double disk with a secular CD called "Walk With Me Know" and a gospel CD called "You'll Fly With Me Later". The secular CD was to be the same DMX of old. As a matter of fact his comments were that he was going to hit the world with a double dose of DMX, and then the world won't know what hit'em. Sounds like foolish pride to me. Now if you really love the Lord, do you want someone with false motives representing your God. And even if this isn't the case and he is having a real conversion, do you really won't him to speak to the masses about Spiritual things before having ample time to study God's Word. Either way could be a disaster and set back for the church.

As a baby in Christ you have to prepare yourself before you go minister to the world, especially if you have a public persona that everyone is scrutinizing waiting for you to mess up. Who here has ever came to Christ as a spiritual new born and then got caught up in the very same things you were doing before you got saved. I know I have and did as a baby in Christ. Well what if you try to evangelize to someone who knows about the backsliding you did. They'll probably call you a hypocrite and your testimony would be worthless. Now imagine the effect of someone like DMX who has lived a life of debauchery as a rap star beyond the average stuff and is now a baby in Christ. It would be next to impossible for him not to backslide at some point and when he does the media is going to be all on it. How much damage would that do to the credibility of the church if we signed off on him as the real deal. That’s why he has to have time for spiritual growth before he represents as an ambassador for the Most High God. But I don't think this is the case at all. I think he is offering strange fruit, for the wrong reasons. In the mean time lets pray for him.

By faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did. By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead. Hebrews 11:4

we as believers and folowers of God need to pray n hope that DMX begins to seek after true redemption. And if he does confess Christ as his Lord and Savior and repents(turns a way from) his sins, we kno that God will forgive Him. Now once he gets to tha church, do not try to bring his past back up and put it in his face. if we call ourselves Christ like, then we will not do this and allow him to fellowship with us. juss pray for him and God will take care of the rest - Jay

I hope DMX is for real. i don't judge him, but i hope he is serious in giving praise to
what God has done for him. maybe he should sit under Prime Minister or Reverend Run's
ministry first. they'll be able to lead him by example. their backgrounds is similar. - Ant

I can't believe I'm reading most of these posts from "believers?!?!?!"

Whom are we to judge?

What abotu the trust that "Rapzilla" is following the Lord's lead in releasing this info?...if 'they' felt it was not on-point, surely The Lord would lead them to either illustrate that or stray away from it all together?!?!?!

None of knows what has happened in DMX's life and it isn't our business until the Lord leads him to tell us...so, if we have issues with the project, release, etc...why don't we wait until it is actually released and see what message is there...and then...have a dialogue about it...IF...it is needed.

Praise the Lord for the work He has done and His wisdom will settle all matters in the end...

...we can all take a look at Matthew Chapter 7 again...?!?!?! - P-Duble

I think he should package it together and title it LIGHT WITH DARKNESS, like a the Nelly double release.

Seriously, I pray for him, but to everyone who is a fan of him needs to get off the fence and choose life or death. Get discipled under a solid teacher of the Word of God first before you consider working for God and representing HIS Kingdom. Then, let a solid mentor speak into your life to help you make solid decisions about ministry. Otherwise just be a rebel and DO YO THANG.

The way I see it is this, music is not just same track's you lay in the studio and hope people like it, When it comes to gospel rap its a connection you make with God, it might be a way he feels comfortable speaking with God. We as people shouldn't throw a fellow brother under the bus before you see what he does behind closed doors, He might be trying to improve his life and we don't know where he stands with God. God has a plan for the guy. All i'm sayin is let the brother speak, then can you put your thoughts on it - heartBeat
