What do you want to achieve with your new album "Soulutions"?
I guess the same motto as the prayer of Jabez. To enlarge my coast that I might reach more people for Christ.

Tell me about the new album.
The new album has a mature vibe to it. It's about looking at life through the avenue of God's unconditional love. Really giving people honest answers to some really hard questions in life. Many cats leave God out the picture when it comes to real life situations, yet that is the place they need him the most. SOULutions helps to bridge that gap.

What inspired you writing the lyrics of the album?
Life experiences and heavy indepth Bible studies. I was really just trying to hear what God was saying to me at the time each song was written

What's different about this album from your previous release "City of Pain"?
Maturity! I can summarize the difference in two verses, 1 Corinthians 7:32-33 which says, "...He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord-how he may please the Lord. But he who is married cares about the things of the world-how he may please his wife." Even though I was married during the "City of Pain" album I was still learning about sacrifice and pleasing my wife. I took these verses and embedded them in my spirit. The outcome of that was a better understanding about the things of this world. I guess I had a reality check on the real problems of the world and tried to come up with some solutions or rather SOULutions. Feel me.

Why did you entitled the album "Soulutions"?
With everything God was speaking to me about with joints like, "Espananza"(song about adultery in the mind), "Cool of the day"(song about isolating God's voice from others) & "New Slave Trade" (song about being enslaved to the trends of this world) it only seemed appropriate.

Which song(s) on the album speaks to you the most and why?
"Cool of the day" simple because the 3rd verse is a true story and I also was finding trouble at one time hearing God's voice. I was too busy listening to everybody else around me.

Mark J CD What is your current mission statement?
Same as it's been since '95. To encourage, exhort and preach the Word of God (the Holy Bible) through an uncompromising form of Hip Hop and Poetry that will open the hearts of people to let them realize Christ is real.

What is currently playing in your CD player?
Miles Davis "Kind of Blue", Ayiesha Woods "Introducing Ayiesha Woods" and Sting's "Songs from the labyrinth" (the song "Come Again" is on repeat daily...bangin'). I listen to music probably no other emcee would touch. That's me.

What artist do you want to collab with?
I wouldn't mind working w/ Ayiesha Woods. I love her whole vogue.

If you had to do another genre of music what would it be?
Good question. Opera, because the words are so deep in meaning. I'm a wordsmith. I love music that makes you think.

What's your favorite Bible verse?
Phil 1:21 That will never change.

Any last words?
Cop that new album, "SOULutions at www.markj.cc My daughter needs diapers!!!
