now that is a good debate...(not arguing)
written by x, June 26, 2009
all i'm gonna say i've been listenin to grits since factors of the 7 (wow 12-13 yrs ago...)and I LUV'ed their MINISTRY ever since. for those who like to engage their consousness a bit more (not just to "make it plain"). it's nice to here jesus's name in a song "jesus walks..." but we kinda forgetting what makes a Kanye differ from a Grits (Grammatical REVOLUTION in the SPIRIT). We do need to be plain when ministring at times however we also need to use wisdom and be sutile. Remeber the theif in the night, to me(yes IMO) grits gets this done. and if you don't like it pray for em and write them (IN LUV!!!!!). Be civil at least cause they listen to there fans... So my hope is that we aknowledge ALL styles, creeds, and forms of ministry cause All things work together to them that serve him... (plainly and simply stated). Cause this disscussion wouldn't be so envolved if this was christian rock we be talking bout...

remember also WISDOM is taken to win souls not just zeal ()

Shalom

i think it's coo that everyone expresses their opinions on here but WHY!?! whats the point? rarely does anyone ever change their opinion
ministry is in all sorts of ways
grits is one of those ways
giving a positive alternative upbeat dope songs thatwill attract nonbelievers with that said...plz stop arguing

written by jdizzle, February 27, 2009
ha wow while your comment is funny, be christians doesnt make us not be able to express our opinions. we cant all pretend to agree with each other all the time.
lololol

Im reading what people are writing.... WOW... I wish you guys knew more about the christian industry.... this is cute how you guys argue back and forth...

GO CHRISTIANS!!!
GREAT EXAMPLE!!!!
...
written by jdizzle, February 21, 2009
what you guys dont understand is that not everyone was called to minister. we need the lecraes and the trip lees and etc to help us grow in our faith. but christians need to reach out to the non believers, that is what everyone is called to do, and guess which people lecraes music is reaching out to !!CHRISTIANS!! if you have a group like grits, not saying jesus every other word, you will reach out to the non believers. all the seperation needs to stop because we need groups like grits, and emcees like lecrae

I feel you
written by DuckDodgers, February 16, 2009
One song that comes to mind was on Reiterate when he says "teach'em nothing in this life besides Christ can save'em" (Dusk till Dawn). But you can't measure someones faithfulness or lack thereof based solely how many times they say the name of Jesus in a song. The opposite does not always apply, that is that someone who says Jesus a lot in their rhymes is automatically more bold or unashamed. The motives or intentions can never be really measured.
I love your fire
written by Charokee Warrior, February 15, 2009
I love your fire TinyT. I don't live in a box. And I was asking do they ever say the name Jesus. I know they say God but I've never heard the word Jesus. Do They? If so. What Song? I'm glad they minister to you and help you. Once again I will say, I never said they were bad. As long as they are not promoting sin they are ok with me. I acually like some of their music. But sometimes I question their motives and it seems like they are afraid to be bold for Christ.
HOLD UP!
written by TinyT, February 15, 2009
OK! first and foremost Charokee u have absolutly no right to say that their music is not ministey. Thats Gods call not yours! lik dodgers said just cuz it dont minister to u dont mean jack! there are all kinds of ministry. ministry is not just what u think it is in your little box. Ever see stomp the yard? stomp is what i do and guess what no matter what anybody says its ministry! does it reach everyone no but that dont mean its not effective! Thats why God created variety too reach ALL people not just the ones stuck in a box of what ministry should and should not be. diff ppl recieve in diff ways jus cuz one persons way aint urs or u dnt lik the way sum1 does theirs dnt mean u knock and demean it. if you would take the time to listn to Grits and stop hopping to conclusions u would find they do mention God. do they do it as much as other artist no but that dnt make them less than them. they speak truth in their songs. even the ones where they dnt say God. they mainly rap bout what ppl go through thats why i lik them. check this! im gonna asume ur a guy. u lik grls?....unless ur gay that should be a yes...guess what i lik grls to its called hormones thats how God made us. how many christian artist tlk bout grls or tlkin to them or the thots we might think when we see a cute grl n wanna tlk to her?....not many! Grits does and its in a respectable way. we all think bout grls and ur a poser if ur actin all holy lik u aint never looked at a grl! thats something we go thru that they rap bout. they even made a bad break up song cuz guess what?....we go thru that to! their music has ministered to many ppl. know how i know....IM ONE OF THEM!!!! and i know ppl that have. w/o their music some of my tuf times in life would have been tougher. their music does its job wether u think so or not. one of their songs inspired me to get up and move past something that happened to me and no it wont easy but they helped! So get out ur box stop knockin them and get a new view of what ministry is!...CHEW ON THAT!
Correct
written by Charokee Warrior, February 15, 2009
God is Love. Love is a sign of God's presence. I think you are correct duckdodgers. You have a good point. If grits music influences one person to think highly of God, then it is good. I never said there music was bad or ungodly. It just isn't ministry. But maybe they are not called to do that. I guess if they are not promoting sin. And they promote love. They are promoting God. But you must not mislead poeple by preaching prosperity. You know talking about all the material things God has blessed you with. There is nothing wrong with having alot of money or material things. But you can not go to places like India, Africa, El Salvador, or other poor countries and preach prosperity in material things. In India today 2009, the nothern government with pay $100 to a citizen if they can kill a Cristian. $200 if you kill a cristian pastor. My paster is there today risking his life. God is love not money. And sometimes Grits and some other cristian artists do that. Just like Puff Daddy and all the secular artists. Have grits ever said the name Jesus in any of their songs? I don't know for sure?
I understand
written by DuckDodgers, February 14, 2009
Charokee I understand where you are coming from man, its just that this issue keeps on getting brought up about anybody who isn't Crossmovement,Reach etc. and it gets tiresome when we hold people to the the standard of other artist when we say "you don't inspire me like such and such". The fact is they may not minister to YOU (keyword YOU), but don't assume that because they hit the spot with you then they don't with others. People have been blessed by their music and continue to be. Let them do what they have been called to do because as long as they are doing what Christ has called for them to do, then they are glorifying God.

Let me ask you a question, what if they pattern their music after the Psalms? The Psalms are really doctrinal or theology their an expression of all the emotions that we as humans face in this world. What about Song of Songs, a whole chapter thats basically a love story, would you have a problem if the Grits made such a song? The book of Esther does not even mention God by name do we just skip right over because of that? My point is that there are places in the Bible that don't always talk about Christ directly but we are not going to take them out the Bible so why excommunicate GRITS from CHH because they are not traditional?
no hate
written by Charokee Warrior, February 14, 2009
I don't want to dis or hate on grits. I'm simply saying that when I listen to Trip,Lacrae, or Datruth. I feel it. I would love to feel grits music. But there is not enough of God's word. I'm not telling them how they should do their music. But they label their music as cristian music. What is the center of cristianity? Christ!! and God's word. If it isn't about that it is'nt cristian music. Yes we all need to stick together as cristians and not seperate ourselves over non-essentals. But there is only truth and lies. Nothing in between. No body is hollier than thuo or perfect. That is why we have Christ!! Rep Him. The word cristian means to be christ like. Love wins baby!! Fight till death. Because in death I will live.
who wants in on thuh Grits fan club?

written by Lamar Gibbs, February 09, 2009
You just told me in the last comment before I responded that I should stop being mean to people who aren't Trip Lee, Tedashii, etc.?

Don't get so upset just because someone called you out on using the same attitude to respond to those that have the attitude you describe(they definitely do). Don't fight what is evil with saying things(especially if your not going to be clear that the comment you first wrote was a joke lol and we had to surprisingly know this..), but respond in love and not in such an un-Christlike manner.

But you right, ima leave it alone even though I'm all for discussing in love. God Bless you Luta, may we all continue to grow in the love of Christ...you and me both

im talking about xmin, cherokee warrior, me...
and the hundreds of others who diss anything thats not trip lee, tedashi and lecrae. the "holier than thou" attitude must die.

now, leave me alone.
Also to add what I couldn't add before(had to go somewhere lol)
written by Lamar Gibbs, February 08, 2009
After I read the first comment, although I was angry I could have still came at the comment in a different way, cuz two wrongs don't make a right and for that I apologize. But the overall thing of what I said still stands. God Bless, much love
Oh really?
written by Lamar Gibbs, February 08, 2009
"seriously though, stop being mean to everyone who isnt Trip Lee, tedashi or Lecrae. please. dont die, but your lousy attitudes should"

Now why would you assume I'm being mean to those that don't listen to Trip Lee, etc. when I'm one of the people who agrees with Grits hunger for God just like you do??? Assumptions are the worst man. And if you were joking so muhc, why don't you make it more obvious...maybe a lol or something? Haha, man its amazing when you can point out something then people expect you to be omniscient.

I just get upset when people say things like what you said, its unecessary and leads to more division. If you were really joking, make it more obvious and say you were, cuz it definitely doesn't look like it.

Also don't assume, its a bad look on you, and is the lowest form of knowledge one can go by when responding to others.
:)

i was just kidding lil buddy.
seriously though, stop being mean to everyone who isnt trip lee, tedashi or lecrae. please. dont die, but your lousy attitudes should.
Luta....WHAT!!
written by Lamar Gibbs, February 08, 2009
Luta, your thoughtless words are just as bad as the people who are fans of Trip Lee, and them when they say things like "Braille does a disservice to the gospel"

You think that just because you see Grit's heart for the gospel in their music and you say this comment that what your saying is a solution? You've just made yourself apart of the problem! Keep those foolish words to yourself.

Stop the nonsense already, I just hate to see dumb comments lol...yes your comment was pretty dumb. Speak in love to those who don't see what God is doing in Grits and happen to be avid fans of Cross Movement, Reach and Lampmode. Not all of them are like this, because I'm a huge fan of Cross Movement and Reach, they were the first ones that I was introduced and felt led to go deeper in God with their music. So am I included in the fans that need to die?? You wanna know whats the reason for the division?

Comments like YOURS..search your heart and keep it pure and things like this wouldn't exist in Christian rap.
Nice vid!
written by MortalWombat, February 08, 2009
I've seen worse low budget HHH videos. This aint too bad!

It may be because I've listened to a lot of christian rock, but Im hearing the gospel all over Grits and find nothing to complain about them message wise.

And to the comment below me! lol! Harsh!

written by hungrie, February 06, 2009
This video is low budget. It was not made to blow your mind, it was made to be more like a video camera held in a hand while they were on the rode. And don't tell GRITS how to make their music. Not everyone is called to minister.

No need to Step it Up
written by Duck Dodgers, February 06, 2009
Their music may not inspire you, but there are plenty other that have been. Grits have been a blessing for years to many people in their music. If you want Trip, Lecrae, and Da Truth thats fine, but don't ask Grits to conform to their ideas.
