Well to be honest its almost better now to be independent then to be on any label, why so they can drop you?? Cuz your album doesn't sell due to lack of touring and promotion. Now this don't mean i wouldn't sign to a label but the label has got to be behind you all the way. Also the labels are too stuck on makin you sound like somethin from the world and making money. If your not making money, your of no use to them. Its all about money with the labels, thats cool and all, but you forget your ministry aspect in the midst of all your business. No offense but a lot of kats coming up in christian hip hop are tryin to reach the lost not become christian hip hop artists of the year. You can do both and Thats not bashin kats on labels who are doin there thing, good for them, i won't knock it. However, If labels opened up and gave a lot of artists there chance and promote and tour them just like they promote Toby Mac, Grits, john rueben, or even the newsboys or third day we wouldn't even have to worry about christian hip hop not blowin up. It is what it is, until kats get there fair shake, christian hip hop will only do minimal damage in this world. Grace and Peace

My word! I never thought about hip-hop this way before. I didn't know that KJ52's album 7th Avenue wasn't very successful before.

Man, what cats won't do to get signed. Think about it. There are many a emcees who represent everything they shouldn't (I won't go into it). But then there are emcees who rep. what they should, and they are most likely the ones feeling more satisfied in life than the others.

It's just a few concepts to think about.
