Preston, I appreciate your zeal for the ministry. It is obvious that you want to see God represented in the best light.
However after reading everyone's comment I think you may have mis-understood the guy who wrote that you should not speak for God. As an Ambassador we are to speak for God in the sense that we speak His written Word, the Bible. As Christians we don't adhere to new revelations.
I hope you would agree with that. I think what the guy meant by saying you were trying to speak for God is that he felt you were stating your personal opinion as Biblical truth.
Your reference to the Old Testament is only partially true. God only instructed Joshua to completely destroy 3 cities: Jericho, Ai, and one other but the name escapes me. All the rest of the cities God only instructed the Israelites to kill the inhabitants but keep the land and houses for themselves.
that was to fulfill Old Testament prophecy that the Israelites would not have to build homes in the promised land. What God had intended was that the Canaanites would build the homes and God would then give the homes and land to His people.
Do you get the connection? God wants the best for his people, so He didn't want His children to have to build houses, he wanted to give them this gift. I feel in the same way God would have me use the best sounding beats to make music with. People can disagree with my motives, but using an Old Testament reference to war practices actually proves my point, not discredits it.
