Street week has been a "big" week for Stellar Award Winner Da' T.R.U.T.H. as junior CD OPEN BOOK (released nationwide on July 10th) set a new record in Gospel music history with its breakthrough debut on the Billboard Top Gospel Chart at #2. (The CD has also been a mainstay in the top-10 on the iTunes Christian & Gospel chart since its release.) This marks the highest debut of any Gospel Hip Hop artist on this chart and heralds an overwhelming indication that Gospel Hip Hop is an authentic and viable form of Gospel music ministry. At the same time, the album's current single "Who Am I?" featuring Tye Tribbett debuted #9 on HipHopRnBSoul.com's Top 10 Hip-Hop Songs, as the only Gospel song on the chart, sandwiched between Kanye West's "Can't Tell Me Nothin'" and 50 Cent's "Amusement Park."

In a package of scintillating lyrics and electrifying tracks, OPEN BOOK depicts the concept of living a visible faith through intentional transparency. The 2008 Holy Hip Hop Award Honoree's lyrics emphasize personal responsibility at a time when many are protesting the mainstream hip hop industry's glamorization of misogyny and recklessness, highlighted recently by the fallout over radio talk-show host Don Imus' blaming rap songs for his verbal slur against the young women of the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

GOSPEL charts on billboard.com
written by nbd, July 31, 2007
For the longest time Billboard did not let the gospel chart be seen on it's website. I don't think this was a "knock" against the faith just a business move. They probably thought nobody cares about the Gospel charts except maybe those artist who were on the charts but, not the general public.

Well with the growing explosion of Great Christian Gospel music ALL heads are forced to pay attention and now billboard is following suit. It's probably been sooner but, I recolect since 2004 the Gospel charts have now been publicized for public viewing without a subscription to the magazine. But, without the subscription viewers can only see the top 25....not the whole chart (you have to subscribe to view the whole chart.

log onto billboard.com go to charts click "albums" then search for the gospel chart and click it to view it.

CrossMoveMent and Reach Records have been making HIStory with alot of their releases as of late.

Since Da T.R.U.T.H's The Faith (sophomore album) Holy Hip Hop has had a substantial amount of releases to crack the top 10 of the Gospel Album Charts.

LeCrae - ATMS debut at #5
(ATMS has continually popped back in the top 25 since it's release last year as of this post its currently #16....WOW!!!)

Flame - OWF debut at #7

CM - HIStory debut at #10

116 clique - 13 letters debut at #10

We that love this music, movement, and message should be very excited because I believe the Lord is unvailing a triumphant stance amongst a called and chosen generation.
