Forget man's opinion-what does the bible say? written by StReeT,
October 25, 2008
Yeah I get where they're going with this. It's clean and it provides a great allternitive. It may not be deep or spiritual but at least its milk. I won't say that it's because it's a party song, because Lecrae has some great party songs that are plenty deep (meaty). If they want to provide new believers with milk(no spiritual or deep lyrics) that's fine. However it still should line up and agree with the Bible. So what does the Bible say?
Proverbs 27:2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; A stranger, and not your own lips.
The reason this song is so questionable is that it is prideful. They are talking about their success and not giving God any credit.
What else does the Bible say?
Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."
I'm not saying that they're trying to serve money directly. What this verse means is that you can't try to please God and still be a man pleaser. Are they afraid of what people will think if they give god some credit. The bible makes it very clear that we are to do EVERY THING as unto the Lord. You can serve milk that pleases God. This song is look-worm if you know what I mean. Jesus gave the analogy of being hot or cold. Hot water is good for something. Cold water is good for something. But look-worm water is useless. Jesus told us to not be useless Christians. Jesus said that he would spit the look-worm from his mouth. I'm not saying that these cats are look-worm Christian's, but this song is look-worm. It is good for nothing. It doesn't glorify God, it doesn't lead people to Christ. What it does do is this: it encourages people to seek success on their own without God's help. This song may not come out and say that word for word. However if these people are supposed to be "Christians" than why are they glorifying themselves and not God? Why are they talking about their success as if God had nothing to do with it? In short, they could have done the exact same song the right way. The brother could have lifted up his sister and vice-verse. I'd rather see them act as a teem in this song that speak about themselves on their own. Finally, they don't need to suffocate people with words like Jesus and God, but they do need to give credit where credit is due.

Amazing Strategy to reach the lost!!!!! written by James Wilson,
September 04, 2008
I strongly agree with Marky Marks comment. This group is PHENOMENAL!!! They are using tactics of the world to draw the lost into the light of Christ. They did the same thing on their last Souljahz record. You have to listen to the record to truly get what I'm saying. I know at first glance you want to judge cause immidiately the flashiness reminds you of any secular video but honestly listen to the lyrics. They are basically saying you can have fun, live life, do what your called to do and make money at the same time. Since when was that a bad message. Its the best strategy I've ever seen or heard to reach thhe world engulfed in Money, Sex, Drugs, and partying. Sure this specific song isn't glorifying God by saying his name specifically, but the concept and what they represent glorifies God to the fullest. Heres what confuses me about this christian industry. Why is it ok for a pastor to do whole sermons and seminars on making money and prosperring, but an incredibly talented group who has the potential to reach much further with one song than most churches ever do in their lifetime can't without getting bashed. I have to agree with Marky Marks comment. You all need to wake up & cop their record & share it with your unsaved friends. CLick here to listen - http://washingtonprojects.com/wpshop.html, I garauntee you if they like Kanye, Jeezy, Rhianna, or any other Popular music thats out right now they will be much more interested in Christ & the Church than they were before they heard this group. This group has more potential with the strategy and approach they use in their lyrics and beats than any of the groups on this site, or that I have ever heard. And the sad thing is as soon as they blow and the "world" accepts them, then the same people hating will be tellin everyone how much they love them cause they represent God. Just like P.O.D. and Switchfoot, who are all Cali natives by the way. God doin big things in Cali people, get on board!!! lol

They are not talkin bout fame or anything of the world. Like I said before "They are proclaiming Christ or how God blessed them without specifically saying it. The reason why they did this is that most Christian rappers uses "Christ" or "Jesus", and it sounds repetitive. Like a secular rapper uses "Money", "Sex", or a type of "Drug", it gets tiring after awhile. You're tryin say that this song is not hot or even worth listening to if the name Jesus is in it. Not to mention, the fact that it is helping people(like me). So, I gotta question for u. How come there is not a problem making a "Joyful Noise" but there is a problem "Taking it(The Gospel) to the Streets? Is it because both are talking about the same thing but the beats and the lyrics are different? Is it because Christians can't party and only the world can party? That's what I read everyday here at rapzilla. I read we can't party with Soul P.or we can't drink LIVING WATER with Grits. This is a different lyrical style of Christian Rap. This is why u can not listen to this for 2 seconds and say it is not Christian. Did u listen to the lyrics? Not even, did u read the lyrics? It is obvious to me that u didn't even do that. If u don't know what "Coffee with the Cream" or "Butta with that Bread" means, that's sad. Coffee/Butta means- Hottness of the lyrics. Cream/Bread- sweetness of Christ's message or Bread of Life that the rapper is giving you. Another thing is the whole "Cops" issue.(I had to this with Soul P.) This is a Christian party song. They are trying to say that this song is so hot or this song is glorifying God so much that the cops can't even stop us from praising God. This song is not the usual inspirational rap song that u hear from Flame or Japhia Life(My favorite rappers). Due to the production of the song, it is a song to dance 2. I know when u first heard this song ur heart was grieving cuz it happened to me 2. You have to explore the artist or the lyrics before u judge the song. Please do that with every song and artist. God Bless!!!

i do injoy your guys's music but why aren't you guys proclaiming Jesus/ god's name? even if your music is to bring the non-saved people how are they going to know this music was ment for GOD! glorify God by calling on his name. it's about God! it shouldn't be based on your fame or fan base. God will bring that to you but you need to put God first.

Great Song!!!!! written by D. Jaxx,
June 24, 2008
This is basically a song about how God bless them with a record deal without specifically saying God did it. Now that they are blessed with that, they want to share it with other people which is in the action of the song "Taking it to the Streets". Throughout the Washington Projects CD "Commanders Of The Resistance" they base their lyrics with God and relevant chapters in their lives. This song brings a raw and rugged flow that clings to the ear of people who are not saved and makes them draw into the music which leads them to Christ. The trick is to think that this is not Christian music to draw the sinner in because christian music is "not hot" enough to them to draw them in. This song is aiming at the young people(like me) to enjoy and state that you can chase your dreams no matter what and share what God has given you. Take it to the Streets Baby!!!

These Hypocritical comments make Jesus very Sad:( written by Marky Mark,
June 08, 2008
This is the foolishness of "The Church" I'm always talkin bout. God did not call us as christians to be bland, or to be so extremely serious all the time. In real life we all have fun, we all play sports, or have hobbies, and when we are doing these things no one would say "Oh man this is not of God" I can't believe you'd actually play basketball, even though it's not glorifying God at all. It's so extremely silly to judge people the way some of you so called Christians do. It's really immature and shows how much you know about Gods Word. This Group is insanely spiritual, everything they represent is Godly and can be found in the Bible in some way or another. If it makes you uncomfortable because you only like to listen to the Genre called "Worship Music" Than more power to you, we are all entitled to our own opinions and vibes, diversity is what makes the world so beautiful. But when you write negative comments about a group like this just because you have such a closed mind, it just shows and proves that you and others with the same mindset are what is in many cases hindering people who are lost in the world to coming to christ. Stop being such Hypocrites. In my opinion it's actually hurting the mission of Christ. This groups record touches real topics that everyone is dealing with, they don't butter it up. They did the same thing as Souljahz, the only difference now is that they are 100 times more appealing and their production is Blessed to say the least. They have proclaimed how they are not a worship band but yet people still can't get the picture that Christians are allowed to talk about "Life", Goodness - READ THE BIBLE PEOPLE. I pray one day God changes this industry because this mindset is what has always given "Holy" Hip Hop a bad name, and the lack of support shown for a great group who has all the potential in the world is why it's taking so long for a Hip Hop or Urban group to take the spotlight in the World alongside Kanye, Jay-Z, etc, while representing Christ, like P.O.D. and Switchfoot have done throughout the rock arena. It's truely Sad. We gotta grow up people.

He says "that chick is dangerous..." This group is awesome and have great music, what you are basically saying is Christians have to have Jesus in them to be good. I'm sick of all this Christian Hip Hop talk having to have spiritual content all the time. Can we just leave that on the side and not comment on this ALL THE TIME? Please. Read the article here on HHH's Civil War, really good.

this right here sounds like secular to me. i think there should atleast be some sort of distinctions between christian n secular music. really, i found none. i managed to get one of their tracks called diamonds from the album commanders of the resistance. at the starting of the track this guy says - "that sh** is dangerous...". ofcourse i could be wrong and pitty me if i am. since when do christian artists cuss' in their music. i dont know bout, u but they r jus one group of "christian" artist of my list.if u aint proclaiming the name a christ u might aswell fall in some other secular genre.

Stop bein judgemental written by Refugee,

Being an MC myself, I would never spit something like this. HOWEVER! I see where they're going. This is not a Christian Rap song, it is Postive. Although Christ's name wasn't mentioned, I didn't hear cussing or explicit lyrics.
It was a party song and thats it. It was a banga and thats it. NO deep content, but what if other tracks on their album are Christ centered and this is just the bait?
Think about it. I'm not one to judge them, there wasn't anything sinful about this.

I dont get the part where he talks about bring the cops and "get some butta with that bread, coffee with that creme"? That doesn't make sense. Who are they???

I Think this video is super great. This is a single about overcoming through trails and test. This song shows how they have been through so much and bringing that message of long suffering to the streets. Their first from the Souljahz album was "All Around The World" which was "positive". This single is consistent with their type of music. Bringing the Gospel through creative, fun and thought provoking music. !!! I like this song and the upcoming album!!!
