Hip-hop artist Kaboose is poised to unleash his Syntax Records debut entitled Excuse Me on October 14th. Armed with only a microphone and the Syntax in-house production team, the Minnesota emcee serves up 15 heaters – all full of the unapologetic truth.

While it's his first full-length album on Syntax Records, this is far from an introduction. Through years of pounding the pavement as a full-time emcee and his national appearances on the Night Owls series, he has already built a strong fan base that is more than ready for Excuse Me.

"In all honesty, it felt refreshing to go in the studio, because I knew it was finally my time," Kaboose says. "Once Executive Producer Tim Trudeau and I got rolling, everything just fell into place. I feel like I was able to get out what was inside of me and am very pleased with the outcome."

That outcome is a brave journey as told only through the eyes of this hip-hop soldier. Every aspect of this album was met with excellence including the artwork inside.

Image"The creative direction for Excuse Me goes far beyond that of previous releases in both consistency and depth," says Syntax Records Creative Director Ian Polanco. "From the very beginning of this project, it was decided that the artwork would play an integral part in everything including the marketing. In an age of digital downloads, there needs to be an incentive for you to buy the hard copy. We're going to offer you that incentive."

Kaboose comes into his own on Excuse Me and brings a very special guest along with him, hip-hop veteran Royce da 5'9". The rapper, who's worked with Emimen and toured with Mobb Deep, collaborates on the song "Goin Outta Control", which is also the first single.

"It was phenomenal working with Royce. We were able to really chop it up about the track and also about life in general," Kaboose says. "I have much love and respect for this legend."

A thin guest list of three is completed by the addition of labelmates RedCloud and MaxOne. With stellar production by sirROCDOMZ, Shane Newville and Tommy Percival, Excuse Me is a refined and focused release that is destined to stick out in an over-saturated music culture.

Excuse Me hits the street October 14, 2008. The album marks a banner year for Syntax Records, the label that also recently released a new project from Braille and is set to release the fifth installment in the compilation series Night Owls.

quick lesson: Old Covenant- power of sin
those who touched unclean became unclean
(example: lepers were ostracized)

New Covenant- power of salvation
God's power overcomes sin and death
Jesus touched the leper, and they became
clean

If you're afraid to be around sinners, you got it backwards.
If Royce ain't cussin, blaspheming, or bringing in evil, what are you afraid of, and why would you be concerned for Kaboose?
Maybe he's actually closer to Jesus' example? I don't know
what

christians are only supposed to rap with christians for christians... nobody else is allowed to listen or play. this is a private party! Syntax is evil for reaching out to the world and showing these heathens love... Jesus never said to go and show everyone love. he said to only show chrsitians love. lets continue to lead christians to christ.!

Bingo Japan! You hit the nail on the head. We are to be in this world but not of this world. Face it, Everyone in here has problems. Heck I'd venture to say that if we went solely by the law some sinners would be more righteous than several "church people" What it boils down to is this. We are in a world, everyone in the world isn't perfect(yes including you) and if someone makes a positive step forward we should praise them(even if it isn't a huge spiritual move, it may lead to one if you LAY OFF PEOPLE) Some of you guys sound just like the Pharisees what crucified our father because they lacked one of the main ingredients to our faith, Grace! They didn't understand that being a Christian is not determined by how many scriptures you quote but it's determined by YOUR HEART! And I think Kaboose and Royce both have a heart to do the right thing. So give them a break!!!!!!!!!

A question I want to ask everyone. Did any one have a problem with "Da Truth" collaborating with "double dragon" on THE FAITH album? According to Da truth that production team were "recent converts"!! So they didn't have time to "disciple" and sit them down. What about the producer Saint Man who produces for secular artist who worked on "The Faith" album also. Who later after "the faith" started working with secular artist.

Lets be honest across the board and not just make fun of Kaboose. Kaboose is going to be at flavor fest so how about some of you ask him these questions when you go to the event!!

you guys must not have any non- christian friends then. light shouldnt mingle with darkness. stay away heathens!
...
written by Captive8, August 25, 2008
I agree with Gray Souljja. The Apostle Paul wrote, "What fellowship does light have with darkness? Do not be unevenly yoked." Even if Royce has been saved, he should take time to fall back and get discipled first and someone should sit him down and explain this to him. But I doubt that is the case even though I am not certain. Christian and secular artists have no place to collaberate. This site Rapzilla promotes secular stuff though. Like the promoting of American Gangsta and Roc-A-Wear clothing. Why would a "Christian" rap site promote a movie that glorifies murder, drugs, and is anti authority?

Wow, you people need to put down the rocks. Royce didn't say a single negative thing in that song but yet your suppose to be christians and I can feel the negativety pouring out your veins. Be happy Royce took a step in a positive directions and take it for what it is and not for what he did. A rapper is only as good as his next rhyme. Kaboose your the man as a rapper and a person and I would support you no matter what, Keep at it. Judge that!

written by Are You Serious, August 08, 2008
Yes, I see we are saying the same thing but here's the kicker. Timing is important! We make Christians seem so weak. Why automatically assume that Royce will have an adverse affect on Kaboose. I'm praying that Kaboose has had an impact on Royce. None of us know how long Kaboose has been ministering to this man(if he has at all) So before we go talking about how bad this collaboration is, let's let time take it's toll and see what happens. Let's support our BROTHERS(ROYCE included) and let's not treat both of them as lepers. That scripture isn't saying treat sinner's like lepers, It's saying don't let them counsel you, influence you to walk their path, or influence you to do scornful things. But Royce is on a song with Kaboose. Doing positive rap. That's a step in the right direction. You can't expect everyone to make a drastic change. This is a daily grind. So, we must have patience and try to influence him to walk with us. You can't do that by throwing negativity at the small step that he takes and treat it as nothing. Small or large... it's a step. And that's important.

Love ya

True! but Christ purpose was to get them save; he just wasn't kickin it with them. All I'm saying is he gotta be careful when dealing with them guys cuz they dont see things the way believers do I'm not against Royce but if he not changing his heart towards Christ then why do a song with him. Anybody can come and drop a few postive lines but is he alwayz rapping postive. Common label as a postive rapper but is Common all day everyday postive. I just pray that Kaboose is focusing on leading this brother to Christ. And not just making a postive song. It is many people moving in the right direction but if they havent trusted Christ then you know where they going. The bible also says in Psalms 1:1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

Not trying to be argumentative but CHRIST DID MINGLE WITH THE WORLD! As a matter of fact in Luke 7:34 it says The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a
gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! Pretty much the same thing that is going on NOW. This elitist attitude is crushing the church. How can you be about saving souls if you won't MINGLE with them. Once again, let's focus on Royce saying something positive and making a step in the Right Direction. To God be the glory.

Yeah man that bad move fam. I mean this is not what Christ would want we are not to mingle with the world ya'll know this already , but if he trusted Christ as Lord and saviour then I can see dat. He need to be careful becuz you dont hardly see the good influencing the wicked it is the wicked who most of the time leads the good back to the old man. I'm praying for him.

Is Royce talking about Jesus Christ? If not then I would say that it's a bad idea BUT if so, why are we trippin? Scenario? Do you really think that Christian rappers are the only ones who love Jesus Christ... Many secular rappers want to love God, they just haven't been showed how. So what if Royce is reading these comments right now and he seeing how your treating him like a leper. Do you think he'll move forward with his belief... I doubt it. But what if we were all saying. Good Job Royce. Glad you are doing something positive Royce! Then maybe he'd want to jump in head first. Or what if Royce being on the song makes his fans want to start listening to Christian rap and ultimately, serve Christ! This thing isn't about what Kaboose is doing musically. It's about winning souls! Let's think outside the box!

Maaaan Syntax Records produce a lot of Carnal Christian stuff =/ like THIS for example! I REALLY do not agree with a Christian artist rapping with a Secualr one!

1.1 Corinthians 15:33 says: "Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

this passage alone explains that Christians that hang out with others that are bad examples arent ok to always hang around!

2. as you can tell from other peoples comments not just my own! it makes this guy look BAD! just cuz hes collaborating with Royce! if Rapping with a secualar artist is gonna hurt your testimony as a Christian you shouldnt do it! :/

Thats My 2 Cents! smilies/wink.gif

Stuff like this doesn't surprise me. RedCloud collabed with Kurupt of Tha Dogg Pound, however I heard rumors that Kurupt is a Christian now, so that may be a bad example. But, a better example is the Grits track feat. Canibus. It was cool, I just didn't know that Canibus wasn't a Christian until after I heard the track.

But anyway, Kaboose is a beast behind a mic, and I am looking forward to another Kaboose/MaxOne collaboration (Dreams was HOT!), as well as the track feat. RedCloud.
