K2S Raps with Metal Band Spoken on ‘Fly with Me’ #TBT

Here’s a Throwback Thursday you probably never heard of before consisting of rap group K2S and metal band Spoken.

K2S and Spoken were both signed to Metro One Records, which also featured Crystal Lewis and T-Bone. Spoken started their career out as a nu-metal rap/rock band and they grabbed their labelmates for a feature.

The song is from Spoken’s 1999 album What Remains.

Listen to Spoken & K2S Below:

K2S, also known as Key to Salvation, was a Christian rap group consisting of three members: siblings Donald Newman (also known as Smooth) and Jennifer Lee-Newman (also known as Jen-E), and MC K-Buc (also spelled KaBuc). They started in the early 90s and spent a lot of time working with the Dynamic Twins.

In August 2004, K-Buc left the group, leaving K2S as a duo. Their debut album, West Coast Thang, was produced by The Dynamic Twins and released by Grapetree Records in 1995.

The group received two Dove Award nominations in 1997 for “After the Rain” as rap song of the year, and Welcome to the New Era as rap album of the year.

In March 2006, the duo ended their association with Metro One and signed their label New Era Recordz to 4th Man Records. They then released a new album, Message Music, on August 15th, 2006 through their own label.

Since then they’ve been on and off but according to Facebook new music may be coming.
