LJ Jones is a Tampa, Florida based gospel rapper. But, he hasn't always been a gospel rapper, actually, he hasn't always been a Christian. Even though he grew up in a Christian school, he always had his questions about the whole "god" thing. But, he just brushed it off his shoulders and said whatever to the whole thing. He figured "If there really is a god, and He is what they say He is. I will never be good enough anyway, so why try." Well, LJ had one thing right. He isn't good enough.
In years to come, things had gotten worse. He dealt with severe depression, which in turn led him to cutting himself to ease the pain and when that didn't help, he became suicidal. One day, while at school he took a trip to his youth pastor (David Dixon)'s office. He closed the door, sat down and told him that this was it. LJ obviously didn't kill himself, David took the blade from him and prayed with him. From that day on LJ would listen to gospel music, listen closely when David preached, but other then that. Nothing. No Christian walk. In his 9th grade year, he fell off. Bad. Suffered more with depression, and ended up getting many addictions. With no plans of ending anything, he went harder and harder until he was given the opportunity to pursue his dream of being in actor. LJ had officially quit all that he was addicted to, two weeks before him and several other flew out to Los Angeles. There he was given great opportunities to meet great casting directors, actors, ect. But, he wasn't ready. So, he came back to Florida.
The day after LJ had moved back, he was at a local coffee shop and he began talking to one of the Baristas there. Turned out that he was a gospel rapper that went by the name of "Nameless Disciple", they talked for several hours about many things. Music, life, God. They exchanged cell phone numbers, and began building a dope friendship. Nameless Disciple became LJ's mentor and led him to Christ. Now LJ is a devout Christian growing more in his walk with Christ daily. Nameless and LJ do prison ministry all over the state of Florida, and they also do rap concerts locally as well, with other fellow artists such as Lo-Rain Healer, God'Speed (FKA Seckond Chaynce of HGA), and many more!
LJ is currently working on his debut mixtape entitled "Who Am I?", with this project he wants to bring everybody into his life. He wants to show you who he was, and who he has became. He wants you to see his trials, his errors, his restoration. When all is said and done, he wants the listeners to ask themselves "Who Am I?"
Be Blessed!
