3 Christian hip-hop songs on NBA video games

As NBA All-Star Weekend begins tonight, Rapzilla found it fitting to track down all of the Christian hip-hop songs that have ever been featured on NBA video games.

There aren’t many, but if you can’t think of any, there are more than you think.

“Broken Tape Decks” by LA Symphony – NBA Inside Drive 2002

NBA Inside Drive, a Microsoft Game Studios product, launched in 2000 and was discontinued in 2004.

In 2002, though, West Coast rap group LA Symphony contributed to the soundtrack.

“Higher” by Pigeon John – NBA Live 2007

Pigeon John, a member of LA Symphony, landed a spot on a more prominent NBA video game franchise years later.

EA Sports’ NBA Live, which is still alive today, featured his song “Higher” on a soundtrack that also included Lupe Fiasco and Talib Kweli.

“The IV” by Braille – NBA Live 09

Syntax Records earned another NBA Live placement two years later when Braille’s song “The IV” was not only featured on the soundtrack, but also on the video game’s trailer.

Other artists featured on the video game included Beck, Kid Cudi, Public Enemy and Busta Rhymes.
