Best sports highlight videos with a Christian hip-hop soundtrack

Hip hop compliments athletic competition (besides hockey) more than any other genre of music.

One of the numerous manifestations of this is the frequent use of hip hop in sports highlight videos. Rarely do talented video producers use Christian hip hop as the backdrop of their highlights, but in the following several instances, they did.

Here are some of the best sports highlight videos with a Christian hip-hop soundtrack on the web.

Andy Mineo – “You Can’t Stop Me”

Harris Highlights is one of the most active college football highlight channels on YouTube. The vast majority of its videos do not use Christian hip-hop music. It’s actually used Andy Mineo songs for six different highlights (and two for Lecrae), though, the best of which being this one of Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon.

MC Jin – “Nick of Time”

This highlight is the longest of the list by far, and MC Jin isn’t featured from start to finish. However, the last song of the video, which is nearing one million views, is of Jin’s tribute to Jeremy Lin, “Nick of Time.”

Tedashii – “Nothing I Can’t Do” feat. Trip Lee and Lecrae

This may be the best-edited highlight of the bunch. According to the video description, this clip was shown in the Phoenix Suns’ arena before their game against the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 19, 2015.

Shames Worthy – “Kobe Bryant On ‘Em (Remix)” feat. Sojourn, CAPS, Propaganda and Peace 586

Speaking of the Lakers, LA-based emcee Shames Worthy and a few friends remixed Sho Baraka’s song “Kobe Bryant On ‘Em,” which was a remix of K-Drama’s song “Air Jordan On ‘Em.” The video, which Shames edited himself, includes highlights of the Lakers’ 2009 championship run.

Rawsrvnt – “On Fire” feat. Richie Righteous

Rawsrvnt is another Christian hip-hop artist who incorporated sports highlights into a video of his own. The Florida native released this alternative visual to his original music video for the song “On Fire,” several months before the Miami Heat won its first of back-to-back titles.

Viktory – “No Automation”

Ohio State University football’s official YouTube channel actually uses Christian hip hop quite a bit on its highlight videos. For the soundtrack of its National Championship highlight video, in which the Buckeyes defeated Oregon by the score of 42-20, OSU selected Viktory’s song “No Automation.”
