Rapzilla.com’s 12 Freshman of 2012 – Skrip

Skrip seemingly came out of nowhere in 2011 with a solo album, production, and co-writing for Thi’sl, Andy Mineo and others. Despite the Christian Hip Hop scene just being introduced to Skrip, he had been in Chicago honing his skills for the last 12 years. Skrip is one of the last few cats I know that represents Hip Hop’s culture. Skrip is skilled in beat making, MC’ing, beatboxing, breakin’ and freestyling.

You may have heard his free project The Underscore, but don’t mistake Skrip for strictly boom-bap. He’s one of the most diverse producers we’ve seen in CHH (evident by the intro track to his debut solo album), and played a major role in providing Thi’sl with the new sound you heard on ‘Beautiful Monster’.

Last but not least, Skrip is also known as Pastor Adriel Cruz and just opened World Renegade Church in Chicago, IL. His computer recently crashed while he had a full plate of production and feature work and is trying to gather the money needed to replace it, but even in that set back, watch out for Skrip to do big things in 2012.
