Video Interview: KB shares story behind suicide song ‘Calling You’

“Calling You,” track No. 9 of KB’s album that released this week, Tomorrow We Live, tells the story of a suicide, and the Reach Records artist told Rapzilla.com in Trinidad about the real events that inspired the song.

“Calling You” is the most intense song on the project, but the sensitivity of the subject matter only made KB more burdened to write it.

“Depression is a wide-spread issue,” KB said, “and suicide is on the rise in our nation. People are taking their lives in scores. How do we respond to that? No disrespect, but am I to tell y’all to twerk more? I’m going to talk more about how much money I have? I’m going to talk about what kind of cars I drive? I get you have the freedom to say what you want to say, but what do people need to hear?”
