GAWVI Explains ‘Vaina’ & the Origin of His Name

The newest official artist of Reach Records, GAWVI, spent some time talking to Rapzilla about the origins of his name and the story behind his new song “Vaina.”

“Gawvi is a nickname my family always gave me when I was younger…it’s a Spanish way to say Gabe, but I spelt it differently,” he revealed.

He also said a lot of his music is made specifically for the concerts to get that live feel. However, he had a different goal for “Vaina.”

“I really want to connect a lot with my Latin culture right now, and ‘Vaina’ is a slang word we use in the Dominican Republic that means thing.”
