Json on the state of Lamp Mode, what he looks for in an artist

Lamp Mode Recordings, one of the most influential record labels in Christian hip hop for over a decade, has been quieter than usual.

After releasing four albums in 2014, only Json and S.O. have put out projects in the past year and a half. Json, who Lamp Mode owner Joshua Wann hired in 2014 to double as president of the label, said that pace will soon change.

Json told Rapzilla at SXSW 2016 that he and Timothy Brindle will drop new music this year, while Shai Linne, Hazakim and S.O. are all working on projects.

Json said he wants to add new artists to Lamp Mode’s roster, too.

“Signing artists is going to be very important for what we want to do for next year,” he said. “We’re going to release some records this year, and we really want to turn up the heat in 2017.”

Watch Json’s interview below about the state of Lamp Mode and what he looks for in artists who he would want to sign.
