Urban D. on the theme of ‘Rise: Lead Higher’ at Flavor Fest 2016

At the 10th annual Legacy Conference, Rapzilla interviewed Urban D. about the 16th annual Flavor Fest, the conference he founded at Crossover Church in Tampa, Florida.

The theme of Flavor Fest 2016 is “Rise: Lead Higher.”

“When we came up with that theme a couple of months ago, it was really even before everything that’s going on happened,” Urban D. said. “The last couple months — the last couple weeks in particular — have been really challenging with all the shootings, not just from terrorism and stuff around the world, but especially what’s happened in the inner cities here in the United States with people being shot unarmed by police officers, and now police officers getting shot.”

Urban D. said the conference will explore ways that churches can partner with communities that help lead to solutions.

“How do we rise above all the noise and all the drama and all the frustration and the hate that’s happening right now, and how do we lead higher?” he said. “That’s going to be a big discussion and conversation.”

The Ambassador, Canton Jones, Christopher “Play” Martin, Timothy Trudeau and Harmony Dust, among others, will speak at Flavor Fest 2016. The urban leadership conference will feature four general workshops, five workshop tracks, two concert events and one outreach block party. Rapzilla will also be hosting the 6th annual Beat Battle where producers will compete for a cash prize.
