Serge on songwriting, his next project ‘Rookie Season’

You may be a fan of Serge and not even know it.

The Miami-based artist doubles as a songwriter and has quietly penned the hooks of several songs by established Christian emcees — Lecrae’s “Timepiece”, Tedashii’s “Complicated”, FLAME’s “Break the Building” and Json’s “Passing”, “Braille” and “Stars”. More large placements could be in his near future.

“Working on some of these same people’s next albums that I just mentioned,” Serge said, “but you never know what you’re going to land until you get the contract and they finalize on everything, so can’t say for sure yet who we’re writing for now.”

Serge has new music of his own on the way as well. He released his EP Return of the Rookie for free last November, and a five-song follow-up EP titled Rookie Season is coming soon.

In an interview with Rapzilla at Legacy Conference 2016, Serge discussed his upcoming project, songwriting and “Haitian Food 2”, which he’s also finishing.
