AHMAD: Back To "Back In The Day"

We were excited to hear, about a year ago, that one of our favorite emcee's were coming out with new music. AHMAD, known for his classic hip hop single "Back In The Day", saw platinum success at the age of 17 in 1993. AHMAD also teamed up with West Coast favorites Saafir and Ras Kass to do the song "Come Widdit" for Street Fighter's motion picture soundtrack. After touring the world on the success of the single and earning his stripes as a respected emcee with a classic hip hop song, AHMAD abruptly quit music. AHMAD was finding that he was not fulfilled by the fame, money, and touring and he gave his life to the Lord. A few years later AHMAD started the band that many grew to know and love by the name of 4th Avenue Jones. 4th Ave released music on Interscope as well as Gotee. After a strong effort but less of a pay off, the band went on an indefinite hiatus, and AHMAD returned to college.

Ahmad enrolled at Long Beach City College and graduated as valedictorian, with a 4.0 grade-point average. He was accepted as a transfer student by several universities for the fall of 2008 and chose Stanford University. Ahmad is a 2008 recipient of the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship, the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country. As of June 2010, AHMAD holds his degree from Stanford University. AHMAD is poised to make his comeback with his sophomore album 'The Death of Me', some 15 years later. AHMAD like many, has started his own label, We C.L.A.P., which stands for We Change Lives Attitudes (and) Perceptions. AHMAD got things kicked off with an appearance on the World Famous Wake Up Show with Sway, Tech, and DJ Revolution, where he has frequented in the past. AHMAD sat next to Kanye West as they talked about Kanye, the industry, Kanye, life, Kanye, as well as did a little freestyling. Kanye stopped everyone at the end of the show to point out how impressed he was to see AHMAD not doing bad, and that he was attending Stanford. Exciting right!? Christians are about to see something amazing happen with an emcee that is respected for his craft among believers and non-believers alike, who has a certified classic hip hop song and platinum plaque under his belt. Who has given us music that gives glory to God, from his band 4th Avenue Jones', as well as his features as a solo artist on songs with Mars iLL, and others. Believers and non-believers alike have been waiting for a solo AHMAD record for years! Well, the wait is going to end starting today, and ending in July when AHMAD releases his new sophomore solo album 'The Death of Me'.

Unfortunately, for reasons unknown (an interview is scheduled), AHMAD seems to no longer be a follower of Christ or he is but believes that it is OK to cuss in his lyrics. We definitely expect this to be a good interview, and we're looking forward to the update. In the meantime, check out AHMAD's new song and video featuring West Coast heavyweight and Slaughterhouse member, Crooked I:
