R-Swift’s popular Hip-Hop spin on the classic worship song “Awesome God” charted number 5 on iTunes Christian & Gospel songs today and is still in the Top 10. What makes things interesting is that the track came out 3 years ago on his album ‘Anthem’.
This may be because since last year UFC fighter Benson Henderson has walked out to “Awesome God” before his matches. Including on December 8th, when he fought for his UFC Lightweight Championship belt against Nate Diaz which was broadcasted on the UFC on FOX television program. After winning the fight, Henderson was interviewed saying “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” (Phil 4:13) Check out the Fox Sports article that mentions Henderson walking out to R-Swift’s record.
