Crossover Church will not hold its annual Christian hip-hop extravaganza “Flavor Fest” in 2009. The conference is on hold this year in order to make way for the blowout anniversary event in 2010.

Over the years, thousands of artists and ministry leaders from across the nation have been trained at Flavor Fest to more effectively share the Gospel in their respective urban communities. “The daytime workshops have 250 to 300 attendees and around 1,000 come to the concerts at night,” says Crossover Church Pastor Tommy "Urban D" Kyllonen. Over the last nine years, over 10,000 people have attended.

The 10th annual conference will be held in October instead of its usual November date. It starts on Thursday Night the 7th and culminates on Sunday with the iconic date 10/10/10; it’s the perfect setting for a festival celebrating 10 years of purpose.

Attendees for the 2010’s Flavor Fest will get more than just a new conference. They will enjoy Crossover’s brand new 43,000 square foot facility. “We wanted to do it right - in our new church,” Pastor Tommy explains. “We’re going to have so much more story to tell and have a lot more things that we can teach people. It will be a much larger facility with additions like a food pantry, classrooms, a gym, a café, offices, a larger Hip-Hop Shop and a 700-seat auditorium.”

Flavor Fest includes 20 workshops, four general sessions and concerts every night. The daytime events are teaching tools to encourage ministry leaders. Speakers at previous events included Fred Lynch, The Ambassador, Lacrae Moore and the President of Urban Youth Workers Institute Larry Acosta.

The nightly concerts are open to the public for $10 at the door. Once inside, Flavor Fest has an active vendor’s area as well as a break dancing competition and two stages with 45 artists slated to perform. In the past, those artists have included Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Cross Movement, RedCloud, Tedashii, 4th Avenue Jones, KJ-52 and Braille among many others. Both indie and established artists have rocked Flavor Fest, and the line-up changes every year.

Early registration is now open for conference attendees. Artist submission/registration is also open from now until September 31, 2009. For more information or to register, go to Flavorfest.org. To learn more about Crossover Church, visit crossoverchurch.org
