Hip-hop legend Twista’s SXSW showcase to feature Christian rapper T.S.O.

Iconic chopper rapper Twista’s Midwestern Music showcase at SXSW 2015 will reportedly feature Christian hip-hop artist T.S.O.

T.S.O., who is signed to the gospel label Tyscot Records, heard about the showcase, which also includes Lil Durk and Wave Chappelle, and reached out to Twista. T.S.O. owns a recording studio in Chicago that Twista uses, and they had previously connected there through mutual friends. The Tyscot artist, who released the single “All I Know” featuring Canton Jones and Uncle Reece in the fall, isn’t on the original showcase lineup, but he told Rapzilla that Twista added him after he asked if there was room for one more on the schedule.

Most Christian rappers’ at SXSW perform at Promiseland Church, a car drive removed from the concentration of concerts in downtown Austin. NF performed on the McDonalds and Universal stages, Propaganda at Hopsin’s Funk Volume showcase, as well as Noisetrade’s, and Derek Minor at TuneCore’s showcase. But T.S.O. thinks its necessary for more Christian artists to join them downtown.

“Everybody who comes to the church event, they pretty much already know Christ,” T.S.O. said. “I believe in going where they don’t know him and being a light.”

The Midwestern Music showcase will go down from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. CT on Sat., March 21 at Old School, 401 E. Sixth St. Austin, TX.
