Several prominent figures in Christian hip hop joined in with the hundreds who took offense to Donald Trump’s controversial tweet about President Barack Obama’s role in the Baltimore riots, which have erupted this past week in response to the death of Freddie Gray.
Late Monday, Trump tweeted the following after violent riots plagued Baltimore over the weekend:
Our great African American President hasn't exactly had a positive impact on the thugs who are so happily and openly destroying Baltimore!

The backlash for the tweet was immense. Noteworthy reactions in Christian hip hop came from Lecrae, Dee-1 and Collision Records’ CEO Adam Thomason.
@realDonaldTrump why does his ethnicity play into his Impact in their lives? Why aren't you as a MAN equally as culpable?

.@realDonaldTrump so I guess we should expect your ethnicity to have an impact on whites who commit crimes too and hold you responsible?

Many recognizable names in Christian hip hop have been vocal on social media about the tragedies linked to injustice over the past year. Some of the most outspoken include Thi’sl, Propaganda and Alex Medina. The latter recently participated in a panel discussion about how the church should respond to injustice at The Gospel Coalition’s national conference: Watch here.
