TobyMac nominated for two 2016 Grammy Awards

TobyMac, a Christian hip-hop pioneer when he began his career with DC Talk, earned two nominations at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

His latest album which he released in August, This Is Not A Test, is nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. Capital CMG rapper NF is featured on track No. 5 of the LP, “Til the Day I Die”. This Is Not A Test debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200, No. 1 on the Christian Albums Chart and No. 3 on the Digital Albums Chart.

Chris Tomlin’s Love Ran Red, Lauren Daigle’s How Can It Be, Jason Crabb’s Whatever The Road and Matt Maher’s Saints And Sinners are also up for the award.

TobyMac’s song “Feel It” featuring Mr. Talkbox, track No. 6 of This Is Not A Test, is also nominated for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song. The music video for “Feel It” debuted on ESPN.com. The song’s competition includes Crowder’s “Lift Your Head Weary Sinner (Chains),” Third Day’s “Soul On Fire,” Francesca Battistelli’s “Holy Spirit” and Matt Maher’s “Because He Lives (Amen).”

The 2016 Grammys will air live on Feb. 15 from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on CBS.

TobyMac will enter next year’s award ceremony with six Grammys already. In 2009, he won Best Rock Gospel Album for Alive and Transported, and, in 2013, he took home one of the awards he’s up for in 2016, Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Eye On It. He also started his career with four Best Rock Gospel Album Grammys from his albums Free At Last, Jesus Freak, Welcome To The Freak Show and Solo with DC Talk.
