Lecrae confirms new album in 2016, in the studio with ‘legends’

Lecrae said in an unreleased Rapzilla.com Live with Chris Chicago interview that Church Clothes 3 will not be the last project he drops this year.

The Reach Records rapper/co-owner told Chicago that after his book, Unashamed, is published on May 3, he will put out his eighth studio album by the end of 2016. Tune in to Rapzilla.com Live with Chris Chicago tomorrow for Lecrae’s full interview. Subscribe to Rapzilla’s podcast and SoundCloud, and tune in to your local FM station for all future shows.

Lecrae and artists close to him have shared on social media that he’s been in the studio with Tori Kelly and King Los, among others.

Lecrae declined to reveal any more names in Rapzilla’s interview, but what he did say will get fans’ imaginations flowing.

“Honestly, I’ve been in the studio with legends,” Lecrae said. “We’ll see what actually makes the project because you don’t want to get people too excited.”

This announcement comes as Lecrae prepares to set out on his 2016 Higher Learning Tour. Between Feb. 9 to April 24, he will perform in 31 cities, mostly at colleges and universities.

“This tour allows me to be involved and inspire some of the most impactful and influential leaders of tomorrow,” Lecrae said in a press release. “College is where many of the world-changing thoughts and ideas are birthed. I want my music and my message to help inspire those ideas.”

Propaganda, Swoope and Liz Vice will join Lecrae and DJ Promote on various dates. Tickets are available for purchase at Lecrae’s official website.

Before the tour, catch up on his Church Clothes 3 music videos — “Freedom” and the short film which includes “It Is What It Is,” “Gangland,” “Deja Vu” and “Misconceptions 3” — and buy the mixtape on iTunes.
