Dove Award nominee and Cross Movement Records gospel hip-hop artist FLAME has been climbing the charts following the debut of his fourth album, Our World Redeemed, which released on March 4, 2008. The critically acclaimed album jumped an amazing 41 chart positions in one week to hit the #1 position in its second week on the CMTA R&B/Hip Hop Chart. The project also debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top Gospel Chart.
Johnson, along with MBU classmates John Shaw, Ricky Brewer and Nathan Gruen (see right form l-r), recently took home top awards from two national film festivals for their documentary on the impact Christian hip-hop music has made in downtown St. Louis. The 16-minute film, a capstone assignment for their Video Production II course, delved into the growing and somewhat controversial Christian rap movement and illustrated how it continues to transform lives.

More than 300 people participated in The New Conspirators Conference last week that brought together hip-hoppers, community workers, and mainline pastors who all were looking for new ways to connect the new generation with Jesus Christ.
Attendees were greeted with an urban atmosphere Saturday morning when rap and hip-hop gospel songs were shared for worship at the conference. Ohmega Watts, a Christian hip-hop producer and vocalist, sang while two people were break dancing behind him, according to conference attendee Jonathan Brink in his blog.
