The creative minds at Syntax Records have come together in full force to create a five song EP entitled “Syntax Records is Justified” inspired by the FX show Justified. With the premiere of the show’s second season premiering tonight at 10 p.m., Syntax is offering the EP as a free download.

“The two main ingredients of Justified are country-living and street life which is what I know the least about” admittedly says Tim Trudeau, President of Syntax Records, “However once we were in the studio we were able to commandeer these fictitious characters and essentially let them write these songs.”

Trudeau, who goes by alias rocdomz (pronounced rock-domes) when in the studio, used his years of experience in production and songwriting to lead an all-star lineup that included in-house producer and Syntax Recording artist Shane Newville, member of Sackcloth Fashion, Sam Hart, Syntax Records own Director of Customer Development, Jeremiah Bonds, and of course brother of rocdomz, and Syntax Records co-founder, MaxOne.

The goal of this project was to create music that could be synchronized in the show. “Writing from the perspective of someone else throughout this whole project was a new endeavor for me, but the experience was awesome, the chemistry in the studio was irreplaceable” said Jeremiah Bonds, one of the project writers.

Justified is based on the works of crime novelist Elmore Leonard, including Leonard’s short story Fire in the Hole. It follows fictional character Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens getting tangled in the new criminal organizations moving into Harlan County. Season two picks up with a cliffhanger after an epic gun battle.

Back in the day it was often said, “Everything revolves around the DJ and the drummer.” While the elements of music are constantly being arranged, the DJ and the Drummer have always stood in the gap to keep the timing strong and the records spinning. Add a comment

Role Model Records Artist, Spoken, gears up to release his newest project, 'Bright Days, Dark Nights', on April 26th 2011. “A lot has happened since “Up By 13: The Mixtape”. I knew what I wanted to happen, but I also understand that God in His sovereign will, may not agree and consequently not always give me what I think I need or want. With that in mind, I released Up By 13 having no idea what would happen. As far as I was concerned, it was just another drop in an ocean of music. Although I’m confident I’ve been blessed with a gift, as a young kid coming out of the Maple Leaf (Canada), I frankly didn’t know if I would measure up beside the amazing artists of today, putting out God-glorifying, and professional quality music. So I was pleasantly surprised when in such a short time, the Lord took me places I never imagined. Add a comment

** If you do your due diligence and research Malice or go to his website, be advised that he does have existing pre-recorded music with cussing in it. Additionally Malice has a film company and they do video shorts and acting in the video contains cussing as well. His message now is the gospel, and again keep him in prayer. I have personally spoken to Malice on several occasions and his heart and passion is one for Christ and I'm extremely optimistic about the change he will affect in the hip hop industry. Last month we took a survey to find out if enough of our readers wanted Rapzilla on their Android devices as much as iPhone users. Why didn't we just launch an Android app? Did we just not care about Android users? NO! It costs money to launch an app on another platform so we need to find out if we can cover our costs. Our survey definitely showed strong interest but not enough that we feel confident we can cover our costs. We had several people offer to pay more than $20 to help offset the cost to launch the app, but upon emailing that group of people we got zero donations =). SO, if you would like to donate to help us offset the cost of launching our app, please send it to paypal@rapzilla.com.

In the meantime, we have launched the app on faith that it will do well and our readers will support it! You can support as well by purchasing the app for $1.99 in the Android Marketplace. Search "Rapzilla". Enjoy!
