Lecrae Gives Acceptance Speech After Winning 2015 Grammy Award

Lecrae’s first Grammy triumph came in 2013 when he won Best Gospel Album for his previous album Gravity.

Today, we can notch a second Grammy Award in the win-column for Lecrae.

On Sunday at the 2015 Grammys, the Reach Records artist wins the award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song for “Messengers,”

The song is track No. 15 of his seventh studio album Anomaly.

Lecrae Giving Thanks

The artist celebrates Jesus after winning. In true unashamed fashion, he states: “You can’t celebrate gifts without celebrating the giver of all gifts.”

He continues, “I want to celebrate Jesus for gifting us all with the gift of love and sacrifice and my beautiful family who’ve supported me since day one.”

And finishes with “Reach Records, Rare Distribution, and all of these incredible writers right here.”.

The Grammy award that Lecrae wins is Best Contemporary Christian Song/Performance for his track “Messengers.” He won Best Gospel Album for Gravity in 2013.

Artists sharing in Lecrae’s victory include for KING & COUNTRY, who feature on the song and the song’s producers, Dirty Rice, Joseph Prielozny, and Street Symphony.

Lecrae bests Francesca Battistelli for her song “Write Your Story”. As well as Crowder for “Come As You Are”, MercyMe for “Shake”, and Needtobreathe for “Multiplied.”

After the release of Anomaly, “Messengers” received significant radio play on contemporary Christian music stations K-Love and Air1.

He lost his first Grammy nomination of the day for his feature on Erica Campbell’s song “Help.

Other Nominations

The artist also saw a nomination for “Best Rap Performance.”

His record, “All I Need Is You,” (also produced by Dirty Rice and Joseph Prielozny) is in the same category as other heavy hitters.

The nominees include Childish Gambino’s “3005,” Drake’s “0-100/The Catchup,” Eminem’s “Rap God,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “i.”

With 2 Grammy Awards under his belt and a nomination for “Best Rap Performance,” his place in music is solidified.

His win, and presence on stage, only further enforces that he’s not just a force in the CCM community but Hip-Hop at large.
